Simply too thrilling.

I know, I know, but I'll be back to my usual imitation-Douglas Adams-humour soon enough...

Meh, I just posted about cake. I should really stop with the hypocrisy.

What sort of cake?

Does it help if I say that I think there's too much mixed spice and maybe I should have used the whole container of ginger?

Also, it's a really labour intensive cake. But it takes awesome.

I prefer a Swiss Roll to a blog roll.

Can you tell I've been saving that line all night? Oh yes, you can. Carry on then.

Ginger is my favourite sort of flavouring, btw, but the whole lot seems a tad excessive.

It was a pretty small container. There doesn't seem to be much call for ground ginger in this neighbourhood and so only small containers are sold. I hate supermarkets.

I was making it with my father in mind and put in the amount of ginger roughly between what the recipe called for and what he would have liked [I can almost hear him saying, 'It's alright, Shell, but more ginger next time']. He would have prefered twice as much as the recipe called for.

I'm ignoring the Swiss Roll thing. Isn't it a pity that it's hard to get decently gingery things? I bought something called Ginger Kisses the other day - I don't remember either ginger or kisses being like that though, I admit, it's been a while on the latter.

Is there a point to the Tim Blair thing? I think I missed it [as usual].

Some stores stock a delicious German ginger snack, soft gingerbread covered with a light dusting of some sort of icing - it's called 'Pfeifferneuse', I think.

The link to Blair's original column in the Telly was busted yesterday, so I had to do a temporary change, but it's back up now. I linked it because it's very original, and I like the fact that he can get away with publishing stuff like that.

I'm a very lucky young lady, for I have a box of petit fours in my cupboard- I discovered a new patisserie yesterday, which made for a very productive day, in my book.

Okay, that rather tainted my memories of my nephew [aged about 2] demanding Pfeffernusse.

It used to be endearing.
